Snapshot Montana Fine

Hi, my name is Montana Fine. I’m a 15-year-old student who lives in Toronto. I have a strong passion for drama and the arts, which takes up most of my time.

I'm really involved in my school drama community: I'm the stage manager of the school play, stage manager of The Sears Festival (an annual student-directed drama competition between high schools), the production assistant for United Artists for a Cause, and, lastly, head of marketing on the Drama Council.

Luckily I’m still able to find time to spend with my friends! We like going over to each other's houses or to parties, trying new things everywhere we go. Every day is a new adventure for us.

As for school, I am an honour roll student. My favourite subject is drama — if you haven’t guessed that already — although I also enjoy English and the sciences. Next year, I'm taking a variety of sciences and business courses so that many doors are left open for the future. I don't know exactly what I'd like to do, but I do know that I'd like to work with and help people as much as possible.

I listen to a lot of different styles of music depending on what kind of mood I'm in — relaxing music like the Dave Matthews Band and Craig Cardiff, but I also put on Kid Cudi and whatever is at the top of the charts at the moment.

My favourite travel destination would have to be Hawaii or Australia. In Hawaii I was able to learn how to surf right outside my hotel, and enjoy the beautiful weather around me. As for Australia, there was so much to see and experience in each different city … including kangaroos!

6:30 a.m. My alarm goes off for an early morning Sears rehearsal which starts at 7:40. I can’t find the snooze button fast enough.
6:39 a.m. I reluctantly roll myself out of bed and start to get ready for the long day ahead.
7:30 a.m. My friend Ryan picks me up for rehearsal with Starbucks in hand! We get to school and I set up the stage and props so that we can begin.

8:45 a.m. The first bell rings and it's time for math. Luckily I have my friends Heather and Connor beside me to make learning about parables a little less painful.
10:10 a.m. I walk with Tristan to our history class where we're doing an exercise on the Great Depression. Task for the class: Create a lifestyle that you can live with during the 1930s. We had to be very creative in our spending, considering the average paycheque was cut by 40 percent.
11:30 a.m. Time for lunch … except no time for lunch. First up: A history session with a WW2 veteran in order to educate the group (including me!) that is going to France next month on what we will be seeing there. Next: a quick costume meeting for the school production of The Madwoman of Challot. After that, I have just enough time to run down to the cafeteria to spend some time with my friends!

12:32 a.m. Gym class with all my girls! Bridget and I partner up to compete with Ali and Tristan for a nasty game of badminton. They win.
1:49 p.m. Last period is science! Cam, Cole, and I partner up to complete a lab experiment based on different acids and bases.
3:10 p.m. School is done for the day — well, for everyone else it is. I'm going to be at school until 7 p.m. for play rehearsal. Though it's been a long day, I love being involved in something so great with so many incredible people, even if some of them are divas!
7 p.m. Rehearsal is over for the night! My friends and I go back home for a quick shower and to get ready for the night ahead.
8:30 p.m. Heather picks me up on her way to our friend's "jersey party": No one will be allowed into the party without a jersey of some sort.
